I also feed my dogs a barf diet.

I feed raw uncooked chicken quarters, smelt, whole raw dead rabbits and also get pork rib slabs and cut each rib out and give them one rib at a time. I don't give veggies or fruit or dairy but I do give them a good dog multivitamin and also add fish oil to their meal every day. Every one has a different opinion on what and how you should feed. My vet was very against me feeding the bones to them but I have never had a problem with it. He pushes science diet and I DO have a problem with that!
If you just think about what a dog would eat in the wild. They don't go around eating dairy products or grazing on corn or grass. Granted they do get some of that from eating animals that are herbivores. That is why I feed the whole rabbits.

I go to Wal-mart once a week when they put their meet on sale and can get some really good deals on stuff. The meat with the bone still in usually is cheaper and if on sale you can get it for less than .99 per lb. I also have several butchers that I get stuff from. They call me when they have stuff for me. Also, the rabbits I get from an Amish neighbor that raises them for butchering – that way I don't have to kill them. I just have him leave the skin on and everything. I know it grosses out a lot of people but my dogs love their diet and they have never been more healthy or looked better.

to the previous poster….dogs can have veggies. Dogs are technically omnivores and their systems can process both meat and plant material.

Maybe you're thinking of cats? Cats are pretty much strictly meat

B.A.R.F diet is an all natural diet for dogs of only meat. If you're an owner of puppies or a long hair dog add oatmeal (cooked) it helps the fur to stay clean and healthy. Never give veggies, veggies aren't normal for a dogs diet, unless you add only one vegitable (for maybe a vitamine he or she needs specially) eggs are good for their coats, too. There are pros and cons, you need to look at total nutrition–all the vitamins and minerals–so the dog has full nourishment for it's whole body. Home diets can be done easier with dogs than cats,but you do have to do your research. I'd say stay away from anything online that isn't corroborated by a vet site.

There are some groups on yahoogroups for this as well, you can join up with them and discuss things with people currently feeding this to their dogs.
