I've heard that before, but I didn't believe it. However, I have discovered that, at least personally, when I'm eating something and I drink a diet coke along with it, I end up eating more. It's like it cleans the a pallet or something and leads into you wanting to try a bunch of different tastes instead of just the one thing you were eating to begin with.

Another reason to quit drinking diet soda is the aspartame. Aspartame is the artificial sweetener they use in place of sugar to make it 0 calories. There's a lot of controversy behind how it got past the FDA, a major conflict of interest ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame_controversy#Alleged_conflict_of_interest_prior_to_1996 ).

I quit drinking soda for 5 months last year, but then decided to drink them again just because I stopped caring. However, in my recent discovery of this tendency of drinking diet soda=eating more, I've quit again and tomorrow will be a week. lol.

Yes. Artificial sweeteners do cause feelings of hunger. It is best to skip sodas completely.

I'm not sure, because I don't drink pop. You shouldn't be drinking this stuff, it's literally poisonous to your body. Do you know 1 can of pop contains 8-10 teaspoons of sugar? That is the entire RDA for your body right there! Now I know you drink diet, but while diet may not have sugars and the cal's that go with it, they're loaded with sodium and the carbonation is toxic to your body either way. Good luck!

yes. Mostly because they contain sodium and sometimes other chemicals that make you dehydrate. Mild dehydration is often confused with hunger. Personally, I think they do that on purpose to make you buy more of their product.
Also, there are some studies that show that the chemical sugar substitutes (aspartame, Nutra-sweet, etc..) cause chemical reactions in the body that make you think you are hungry.

The best diet drink is water. Take your weight and divide it in half. You should be drinking that many ounces of water (or juice) each day. Save the soda for special occasions. And if you're only having it once in awhile, stick to the full sugar stuff. Believe it or not, it's better for you.

Yep, it can make you feel hungry. Aspartame contains phenylalanine which causes insulin to be released triggering hunger. You may want to go back to reg. pop or forget it all together. Aspartame is a killer (literally). Check out this site for more info.
